About Us

      We are a first and second generation ranching family located in Nevada County, CA. Our family began raising beef and chicken in 2006, adding pork, turkey, lamb and goat over the next 5 years.  For 20 years, we have been committed to producing a sustainable, healthy, and flavorful product for ourselves and for our local community.

      Our current offerings include grass fed & finished beef, lamb and goat, pasture raised turkey and chicken along with pork.  All our grains are Non-GMO with no glyphosate and are sourced regionally from the valley.  We fill our own  freezers with the same delicious, nutritious meats that we offer for sale.

FAQ

Do you use antibiotics, growth hormones or vaccines?

​

Vaccinations:

​

We do not vaccinate animals that are born on our ranch.  After much research we have found that livestock health is directly affected by the environment in which they are raised and many of the issues that vaccines are designed to treat can also be mitigated by management, both by the managed grazing component and supplements such as baking soda.  We offer a limited supply of never vaccinated meats.   We do purchase weanlings from a select few neighboring ranches to finish in our program, these are minimally vaccinated and always free of mRNA.  If no vaccines is important to you, please let us know this specifically and we will make sure your order is filled accordingly.

Antibiotics:

​

Antibiotics are only used in emergency cases, should alternative treatments fail. These animals are recorded and removed from our meat program.

Hormones:

​

Growth hormones are never used.

Are all of your meats pasture raised & grass fed/finished?

​

Our ruminants (cattle, goats & sheep) are all out on pasture in a managed system. Beef, lamb and goat are all grass fed and finished.  Each species are moved throughout the ranch at different rates depending on multiple factors:  time of year, water & feed available in each paddock, and land management goals in specific paddocks.

Our pigs are not on pasture, but are in an open air system, with lots of room to roam, root through hay/straw and play in the water when hot.  Pigs receive a complete grain ration that is free of soy, corn and GMOs.

Chickens and turkeys are raised on pasture.  They receive supplement feed of a no corn/ soy diet that is free from GMOs.  Poultry will consume approximately 30% of their diet in grasses and legumes but do need a grain supplement for growth.  The green grass increases nutrients in yolks and fat.  

 

 What other inputs do your animals receive?

We supplement animals with free choice Redmond Sea Salt and baking soda.  On occasion they receive apple cider vinegar, Redmond conditioner (clay), diatomaceous earth, and only when needed: ivermectin or fenbendazole.

​

On occasion we supplement with hay, though this rare.  We manage the grasses on our ranch with the goal in mind to not supplement with hay.
